About STEW

Students Teaching English to the World (STEW) envisions to empower women through education. STEW is committed to reaching out and supporting migrant and refugee women throughout Victoria. STEW aims to make significant and measurable progress for the women by inspiring student volunteers to work with migrant and refugee women around their university’s area.

STEW provides free one-on-one English tutoring to refugees and migrants- with a particular focus on women. We work in collaboration with AMES (Adult Multicultural Education Services) who provides us with clients to tutor and training for our volunteers. The majority of our clients are Afghani or Iraqi women. Our club is unique because we directly connect university students to the community. We encourage students to use their education to empower others, who we believe in turn will impact their community.
