Background Embrace Education is a registered, non-profit organisation founded in late 2006 by a group of young students at Monash University, in Melbourne. We aim to inspire and to help disadvantaged students to reach their full potential by providing free educational assistance and mentoring. There is a growing inequality in access to good quality education in Melbourne, and around Australia. Students from refugee or international backgrounds and living in particular areas of Melbourne were, and are still particularly disadvantaged. Embrace is determined to help bring about a change to these inequalities by providing disadvantaged students with free assistance in their education including free tutoring services and donations such as textbooks, computers and stationery. With students from a diverse range of backgrounds, a core part of the tutoring program involves a cross-cultural exchange experience. It also acts separately as an information resource for university students wanting to work within the field of teaching English to migrants and refugees. To date over 160 university students have signed up as volunteers with Embrace Education! Embrace is committed to making a quality EDUCATION a reality for EVERYONE!
Sponsorship for Embrace Education Embrace Education is a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers and depends on community funding and support to the keep the projects running. We would like to kindly thank the following organisations for their incredible support and for sharing the vision:
